Best Poster Paper at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2017

The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is a premier international forum in the field of robotics. It is the flagship conference held by IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. In every year, researchers from the world-renowned institutes present their cutting-edge works here. The ICRA 2017 was held from May 29 to June 3, 2017 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore.

In ICRA 2017, Dr. Ka-Wai Kwok’s group involving five ME RPg students: Ziyang Dong, Ziyan Guo, Kit-Hang Lee, Martin C.W. Leong, Chim-Lee Cheung, and three research fellows: Dr. Denny Fu (ME, HKU), Prof. Wayne Luk (Computing, Imperial) and Dr. Alex Lee (PWH, CUHK). The group delivered a presentation in the ICRA 2017 workshop on Surgical Robotics, in regards of a novel robotic system capable to operate in very strong magnetic field of the MRI scanner for intra-cardiac electrophysiological (EP) intervention, which is an effective treatment for heart rhythm disorders.

In the workshop, researchers from worldwide institutes, such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Vanderbilt University, National University of Singapore, University of Minnesota, have presented their new surgical robotic systems. Finally, the HKU group was awarded for the Best Poster Paper (Merit Award) in 3 out of 9 finalists on 2 June 2017. The award is sponsored by Intuitive Surgical Inc.
